Video: '"Some Other Guy " The Beatles at the Cavern REMASTER Take one and two.' (video shot Aug. 22, 1962, audio recorded Sept. 5, 1962, at 0:00-2:12)
(Wednesday, September 5, 1962, evening BST) — Just back from their very first EMI recording session in London as John, Paul, George, and Ringo, the still largely unknown British rock band, The Beatles, were recorded performing tonight at the Cavern Club in Liverpool by a sound technician from Granada Television.
The Beatles had been filmed by Granada Television at the Cavern Club on Aug. 22, 1962, performing “Some Other Guy” for the Know The North program. On this evening, their sound technician, Gordon Butler, returned to the venue to make a better-quality recording that could then be dubbed onto the Aug. 22, 1962, film in order to improve the sonic clarity.

Butler used three microphones rather than one for this evening’s show. He made an hour-long recording of The Beatles, of which performances of “Some Other Guy” and “Kansas City/Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey!” have survived.
