Video: 'That'll Be The Day'

(Monday, October 23, 1972) — Ex-Beatle Ringo Starr, having traveled to a Butlins holiday camp on the Isle of Wight off the south coast of England, began filming his scenes today for the Goodtimes Enterprises’ production of That’ll Be The Day, a British coming-of-age drama feature film directed by Claude Whatham.

The film co-stars David Essex, who left his current role as Jesus in the musical Godspell, Billy Fury, and Keith Moon, the drummer with The Who.

Based on a screenplay by the Evening Standard writer Ray Connolly, the seven-week shooting schedule will be completed on Dec.14, 1972, although Ringo would complete his scenes two weeks previous to that and return home to London.

The London premiere of the film would take place on Apr. 12, 1973.
