Video: 'To Kill a Mockingbird' trailer

(Tuesday, December 25, 1962, 2:00 p.m. PST) — To Kill a Mockingbird, an American drama film about a lawyer in the Depression-era South who defends a black man against an undeserved rape charge and his kids against prejudice, opened today at the Fox Wilshire Theater in Los Angeles.

Directed by Robert Mulligan, the film stars Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch and Mary Badham as Scout. It marked the film debut of Robert Duvall, William Windom and Alice Ghostley.

In 2007, the film ranked twenty-fifth on the AFI’s 10th-anniversary list of the greatest American movies of all time.
