(Monday, January 19, 1953, 9:00 p.m. EST) — CBS-TV tonight aired the widely watched “Lucy Goes to the Hospital” episode of the sitcom I Love Lucy tonight in which Lucy Ricardo, played by Lucille Ball, gave birth to Little Ricky.

Twelve hours before tonight’s episode, Ball gave birth to Desi Arnaz, Jr. by cesarean section.

The episode had actually been filmed on November 14, 1952.
