(Friday, March 22, 1963) — The British rock music band The Beatles released their debut album, Please Please Me, today in England in mono (the stereo version was released Apr. 26, 1963).

The tracks included: I Saw Her Standing There, Misery, Anna (Go To Him), Chains, Boys, Ask Me Why, Please Please Me, Love Me Do, PS I Love You, Baby It’s You, Do You Want To Know A Secret, A Taste Of Honey, There’s A Place and Twist And Shout (Ask Me Why, Please Please Me, Love Me Do, PS I Love You had already been released as singles).

Produced by George Martin, all four Beatles (John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr) took a turn for at least one lead vocal and eight of the 14 tracks were original Lennon-McCartney compositions.

In 2012, Please Please Me was voted 39th on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time.”
