Video: 'That'll Be The Day'
(Thursday, April 12, 1973) — That’ll Be the Day, a film about a gifted but wayward young man who finally discovers a sense of purpose when he decides to turn his love of music into a career (loosely-based on John Lennon’s early years), premiered today at ABC 2 cinema on Shaftsbury Avenue in London.

Directed by Claude Whatham, the film was written by Ray Connolly and starred David Essex, Rosemary Leach, and ex-Beatle Ringo Starr.
That’ll Be The Day would receive its American premiere when it opened in Los Angeles on Oct. 29, 1973.
