(Wednesday, October 16, 1963, 9:00-10:00 p.m. British Summer Time) — The Beatles taped their fourth and final session for the BBC Light Programme Easy Beat tonight at Playhouse Theatre in London.

They played “I Saw Her Standing There” and their four EMI singles in order: “Love Me Do,” “Please Please Me,” “From Me To You” and “She Loves You,” for broadcast on Oct. 20, 1963, at 10:31 a.m.

The group’s manager Brian Epstein had told BBC executives that, given The Beatles’ popularity and concerns for their safety, he would no longer allow radio appearances in front of studio audiences.

This led to the cancellation of a planned fifth Easy Beat appearance, due to have taken place on Dec. 4, 1963.
