Video: 'From a Window'
(Friday, May 29, 1964) — Paul McCartney of The Beatles attended a recording session today at EMI Studios in London for “From a Window” as performed by Billy J. Kramer with The Dakotas and written primarily by Paul (officially attributed to fellow Beatle John Lennon and McCartney).
Having rejected “One and One Is Two,” Kramer agreed to record “From a Window” after Peter and Gordon turned the song down.
McCartney’s presence came in handy. When Kramer had trouble hitting the high G note that ends the song, Paul stepped in to sing the final syllable: “… niiiight.”
With George Martin producing, this was the last of six Lennon–McCartney compositions recorded by Kramer.
