(Monday, June 8, 1964, 4:40 p.m. Hong Kong Standard Time) — More than 1,000 fans were waiting for The Beatles at Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport when they arrived this afternoon.

They were allowed to bypass customs and immigration procedures and were swiftly taken to the President Hotel in Kowloon, where they were booked to stay on the 15th floor.

Yesterday morning, The Beatles departed Amsterdam for Hong Kong, a journey which took in connecting/refueling stops in six cities (including London, Zürich, Beirut, Karachi, Calcutta and Bangkok) and over some 23 hours.
