(Thursday, June 11, 1964) — Following a press conference at the Sheraton Motel Hotel, DJ Bob Rogers recorded interviews with John Lennon and Paul McCartney of The Beatles about the “shocking” weather that greeted their arrival in Sydney, Australia.

Lennon compared the downpour to a torrential rain he had experienced the previous month while on holiday in Tahiti, while McCartney lamented that the weather had spoiled their chance to showcase new capes they had made in Hong Kong.

Rogers reported that their next American release would be the single “A Hard Day’s Night.” Lennon, who had expected the release to be “Long Tall Sally,” expressed frustration, noting that “they all make their own singles out of the LPs everywhere else.”
