(Friday, June 12, 1964, 7:40 p.m. PDT) — Beatle Ringo Starr, delayed from joining his band’s world tour by illness, arrived in San Francisco this afternoon en route to meet up with his bandmates, on tour in Australia.

Starr gave a press conference at the airport before boarding the Qantas flight to Sydney.
