(Sunday, June 14, 1964, afternoon Australian Eastern Standard Time) — Ringo Starr arrived at Essendon Airport in Melbourne, Australia, this afternoon to join his band, The Beatles (they arrived in Melbourne a few hours later, greeted by a crowd of 5,000.), on their world tour after suffering from an illness.

A couple of hours later, the scene is replayed and magnified: As the second flight (with John, Paul, George and Jimmy on board) taxis into position, a mobile camera rolls onto the tarmac to capture close-ups of the great moment. And here they are, bat-wing capes and all!

Unlike Ringo, the others board a flatbed truck for optimum viewing and make not one, but two complete laps past the appreciative fans.
