(Friday, July 10, 1964)A Hard Day’s Night the third studio album by British rock group the Beatles, was released today with side one containing songs from the soundtrack to their film A Hard Day’s Night.

In contrast to the Beatles’ first two British studio albums, all 13 tracks on A Hard Day’s Night were written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, showcasing the development of their songwriting partnership.

The American version of the album was released two weeks earlier by United Artists Records, with a different track listing that included selections from George Martin’s film score.

In 2020, A Hard Day’s Night was voted 263rd on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time.”
