(Saturday, July 25, 1964) — A Hard Day’s Night, the soundtrack LP to The Beatles’ first feature film, peaked at #1 on today’s Billboard‘s 200 albums chart for the first of fourteen consecutive weeks (July 25, Aug. 1/8/15/22/29, Sept. 5/12/19/26, Oct. 3/10/17/24, 1964).
It was the group’s third number one on the chart since Feb. 15, 1964.
The album also included four easy listening-styled instrumental versions of Lennon and McCartney songs arranged by George Martin, the band’s producer, conducting an orchestra of studio musicians.
