The two ex-Beatles recorded the backing for the album’s title song (horns were added on Sept. 18) and at Lennon’s suggestion, “Only You (And You Alone),” a cover of The Platters’ 1955 hit, which would end up as the album’s lead-off single.

Two different versions of the work in progress are available. The first is the commercially released backing track with John Lennon’s guide vocal.

The second version also features John’s scratch vocal, but at this stage Ringo has recorded his spoken verse.
