(Thursday, August 20, 1964, 3:30 p.m. PDT) — Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr of The Beatles were interviewed by WFUN-AM’s Larry Kane this afternoon at the Las Vegas Convention Center, just before the group performed the first of two concerts.
McCartney and Starr pleaded for fans to throw streamers instead of jelly beans at the concerts.
When asked about racial segregation, McCartney stated, “You can’t treat other human beings like animals.”
The Beatles also expressed their admiration for the Rolling Stones and James Bond novels, with McCartney frequently mentioning Cilla Black’s recording of the Lennon-McCartney composition “It’s for You.”
