(Sunday, August 23, 1964, approximately 7:30 p.m. PDT; during The Beatles’ 1964 North American tour) — Ringo Starr of The Beatles was interviewed this evening by KRLA-AM’s Dave Hull at the Cinnamon Cinder nightclub in Los Angeles, following the group’s press conference.

Before heading to the Hollywood Bowl, Starr addressed several topics, including rumors about his girlfriend.

Hull asked if Starr’s girlfriend, Maureen Cox, was his private secretary. Ringo clarified that the rumor stemmed from a joking comment he made when Maureen left her hairstyling job.

He downplayed her role as a steady girlfriend, emphasizing that their trip together in May was chaperoned.

Ringo also expressed doubt about visiting Disneyland while in California, admitting he didn’t even know where it was.

He added that the Canadian audience the previous evening was similar to audiences around the world.
