(Wednesday, August 26, 1964, afternoon MDT; during The Beatles’ 1964 North American tour) — The Beatles were interviewed today by Dave Hull of KRLA-AM at the Brown Palace Hotel in Denver, soon after their arrival from Los Angeles.

Hull and Jim Steck of KRLA had been confronted by Brian Epstein about stowing away on the flight.

The band’s press officer Derek Taylor decided to take mercy on the pair, not only giving them tickets to the concert at Red Rocks, but allowing them into the hotel to interview each of the Fabs.

Hull made the interviews short but sweet, not wanting to press his luck further.

John Lennon discusses A Hard Day’s Night, choosing the field scene as his favorite and explaining that even the ad-libbed moments failed to be spontaneous due to retakes.

He denies that their next movie will be filmed in Hollywood or written by him, and says he hasn’t moved into his new Weybridge home yet, as it’s still being redecorated.

Ringo Starr teases Hull for getting caught sneaking on the flight, relates how he thought of the phrase “a hard day’s night,” and talks about his upcoming tonsillectomy.

Paul McCartney chats about Drake’s Drum, the racehorse he purchased for his father, and George Harrison says even if they were planning to visit Disneyland, it’d be pointless to announce it.

Both he and Paul concur with John’s choice of best scene in A Hard Day’s Night.
