(Thursday, August 27, 1964, 5:05 p.m. EDT; during The Beatles’ 1964 North American tour) — The Beatles arrived this afternoon at Lunken Airport in Cincinnati, flying in from Denver to kick off the seventh stop of their first full North American tour.

Eleven hundred fans gathered to greet The Beatles as newsreels captured the plane’s approach, landing, and taxiing to a halt.

Derek Taylor and Neil Aspinall were the first to disembark, followed by the Fab Four, who paused at the top of the steps for a photocall, much to the delight of their enthusiastic audience.
