(Monday, September 7, 1964, 6:30 p.m. EDT; during The Beatles’ 1964 North American tour) — The Beatles held a press conference this evening at Maple Leaf Gardens during their 14th stop on their first full North American tour.

Between their two shows, the group posed for photographs with local DJs, fan club presidents, and Miss Canada.

The press conference took place on and in front of the stage, where the Beatles were also presented with a gold record by Capitol of Canada for their LP Beatlemania! With The Beatles.

During the interviews, John Lennon mentioned his sore throat was improving, Ringo Starr recounted their chaotic early-morning entrance at the hotel, Paul McCartney praised the first-show audience, and George Harrison discussed the origins of the group.

When a reporter expressed concern about their fame, John mockingly interviewed George, highlighting the playful banter typical of the band.
