(Tuesday, September 8, 1964, evening EDT; during The Beatles’ 1964 North American tour) — The Beatles hosted a press conference tonight between two shows at the Montreal Forum, marking the band’s 16th stop on their first full North American tour.
Following their initial performance, CBC-TV filmed another press conference with the iconic band. The discussion covered familiar topics, such as Jane Asher, with John Lennon humorously noting, “I’m going out with her.”
When asked about their earnings, George Harrison quipped, “We ran out of fingers to count on.” The group also joked about their downtime activities in hotels, with Harrison adding, “Ice skating.”

Ringo Starr clarified that he did not know starlets Ann-Margret and Joey Heatherton, while Lennon playfully demonstrated his limited French: “Je me lève à sept heures” (“I get up at seven o’clock”).
After the general questions, John Lennon was separately interviewed by a CBC reporter about his book, In His Own Write.
Harrison was also interviewed by WFUN-AM’s Larry Kane. He explained why he used a twelve-string guitar on some songs and praised the Stones, as well as the Animals and the Searchers.
He also discussed topics that had all been covered before—his favorite parts of their film, other groups asking for advice, and the Beatles’ naturalness.
