(Saturday, October 17, 1964) — “Matchbox” by The Beatles (written by Carl Perkins with Ringo Starr on lead vocals) peaked at #17 on today’s Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for one week.

It was the band’s 26th appearance on the chart since Jan. 18, 1964; five of the 26 have reached the number one spot, thus far.
