(Friday, November 8, 1974) — Former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr made a surprise appearance today at Aquarius Theatre in Los Angeles during the taping of ABC’s fortnightly music program, In Concert, hosted by fellow drummer Keith Moon of The Who.

The episode, marking the show’s second anniversary, featured a brief but memorable cameo from Starr as part of a lighthearted moment involving Moon.

While Moon was introducing the band Sparks, Starr appeared on screen without saying a word. In a humorous gesture, he produced a large pair of scissors, snipped off Moon’s necktie, and then promptly left the stage.

Starr later returned for a brief appearance, applauding enthusiastically during Moon’s drum solo, which included the unique spectacle of real goldfish swimming inside transparent drums made of perspex.

The episode was set to air tonight at 11:30 p.m. EDT.
