(Saturday, December 14, 1974) — For the first time since The Beatles broke up in 1970, each member had a hit record on today’s Billboard ‘s top 40 pop chart: “Junior’s Farm” by Paul McCartney and Wings at #10 (it would peak at #3 on Jan. 11, 1975), “Only You” by Ringo Starr at #18 (it would peak at #6 on Jan. 11, 1975), “Dark Horse” by George Harrison at #32 (it would peak at #15 on Jan. 11, 1975) and “Whatever Gets You Thru The Night” by John Lennon at #40 (it had peaked at #1 on Nov. 16, 1974).

In addition to four songs by each former Beatle as solo artists, “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” by Elton John, written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney (originally released in 1967 on The Beatles’ studio album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”) and featuring Lennon on guitar and backing vocals, held the #9 spot on the chart this week.
