(Thursday, February 13, 1975) — Paul McCartney and Wings held a press conference and party today aboard a Mississippi steamboat in New Orleans (with the Young Tuxedo Brass Band performing on the quay prior to the party) to promote the ongoing recording sessions for their next album Venus and Mars.

Afterwards, they headed over to Sea-Saint Recording Studio at 3809 Clematis Street for another spontaneous recording session, overdubbing the sounds of the Tuxedo Jazz Band onto “Baby Face,” recorded in August for the One Hand Clapping television special.

McCartney wanted to enrich the song with the addition of a brass band, and listening to the Tuxedo Jazz Band during the riverboat cruise convinced him that he had found the right players.

When the cruise ended, he offered each of the seven Tuxedo players $100 (£42) to come back to Sea-Saint that evening for an overdubbing session that marked the completion of the recording phase of the One Hand Clapping project, which began Aug. 26, 1974, in London.
