‘The Odd Couple’ opens on Broadway 60 years ago this hour (Mar 10 1965)

(Wednesday, March 10, 1965, 7:30 p.m. EST) — Neil Simon’s play The Odd Couple, starring Walter Matthau and Art Carney, opened tonight on Broadway at the Plymouth Theatre.

The plot concerned two mismatched roommates: the neat, uptight Felix Ungar and the slovenly, easygoing Oscar Madison.
