(Tuesday, June 21, 2005, just after noon CDT) — Forty-one years to the day after three civil rights workers (Michael Schwerner, Andrew Goodman and James Chaney) were beaten and shot to death in Mississippi, Edgar Ray Killen, an 80-year-old former Ku Klux Klansman, was found guilty today of manslaughter.

Killen was sentenced on June 23, 2005, to 60 years in prison.
