‘Beatles VI’ album by The Beatles peaks at #1 in USA 60 years ago today (July 10 1965)

(Saturday, July 10, 1965)Beatles VI, the sixth Capitol Records studio album by the English rock band the Beatles in the United States and Canada (not counting The Beatles’ Story documentary album) and the ninth album released into that market in less than one and a half years (Vee-Jay Records and United Artists Records also released one album each during that period), peaked at #1 on Billboard‘s 200 album chart.

Beatles VI included two tracks recorded specifically for the North American market, six tracks from the Beatles for Sale British album left off the American LP Beatles ’65, “Yes It Is,” the B-side to the single “Ticket to Ride” and two other tracks from the forthcoming UK release of Help!.

It was the group’s fifth of an all-time record 19 number one albums on the chart (1964-2000).
