(Saturday, August 29, 1885) — Gottlieb Daimler today patented the world’s first internal combustion motorcycle, the Daimler Reitwagen (“riding wagon”), the forerunner of all vehicles, land, sea and air, that use its overwhelmingly popular engine type.
