(Tuesday, August 31, 1965, 1:08 p.m. PDT) — The Beatles returned to San Francisco today for the first of two concerts at the Cow Palace, wrapping up their 1965 North American tour where their 1964 tour had begun.

The British quartet landed just after 1 p.m. PDT at San Francisco International Airport, greeted by excited fans and heavy media coverage. Local TV station KGO-TV captured film footage of the arrival, including John Lennon singing “San Francisco Bay Blues” as the band and crew moved across the tarmac.
