(Monday, September 12, 2005) — Three days after being stripped of his duties overseeing the post-Katrina hurricane relief effort and ten days after U.S. President George W. Bush infamously declared, “Brownie, you’re doing a heck of a job,” Michael Brown resigned today as director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, saying that he wanted to avoid distracting the agency at a time when it faces a major challenge.
