(Friday, December 3, 1965) — Rubber Soul, the sixth studio album by British rock group the Beatles, was released today today in the UK.

The North American version of the album, the tenth by the group in the U.S., was released three days later by Capitol Records (with four tracks removed and set aside for the next American album, Yesterday and Today, replaced with two tracks from the UK Help! album: “I’ve Just Seen a Face” and “It’s Only Love”).

In 2012, Rubber Soul was ranked number five on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time.”
