(Monday, December 8, 1975) — The single “This Guitar (Can’t Keep from Crying)“/”Maya Love” by ex-Beatle George Harrison was released today in the U.S. (Feb. 6, 1976, in the UK), the second single from his album Extra Texture (Read All About It).

An edited version of “This Guitar” was issued as a single as the final release by Apple Records, a British record label founded by the Beatles in 1968 as a division of Apple Corps Ltd, in its original incarnation.

It was Harrison’s first single to miss the Billboard Hot 100, where all his previous releases had charted no lower than number 36, and the first single by a former Beatle not to chart at all in the United States.
