(Saturday, December 13, 1975) — Former Beatle George Harrison, as pirate “Bob,” recorded an appearance for a special Boxing Day (Dec. 26, 1975) edition of Rutland Weekend Television today at the BBC Television Centre in London, featuring his exclusive performance of the Harrison/Eric Idle composition “The Pirate Song.”

George appears in a few small sketches before taking the stage, as himself, to supposedly perform “My Sweet Lord.” But following the opening guitar chords George breaks into an original Harrison/Eric Idle composition called “The Pirate Song” much to the disgust of the host and his backing band.
