Wings complete recording of ‘Speed of Sound’ studio album in London 50 years ago this hour (Feb 25 1976)

(Wednesday, February 25, 1976, 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. GMT) — Former Beatle Paul McCartney and his British-American rock band Wings completed recording sessions for the group’s fifth studio album Wings at the Speed of Sound today at Abbey Road Studios, Studio Two in London adding brass and wind overdubs to five tracks.

The five tracks included “Silly Love Songs,” “San Ferry Anne,” “Cook of the House,” “Time to Hide,” and “Let ’Em In.”

Four of the five songs were written and sung by McCartney, except “Cook of the House,” which was sung by his wife, Linda.

The fifth song, “Time to Hide,” was written and sung by another member of the group, Denny Laine.

The tracks were the last five of 12 to be completed for release on Mar. 25, 1976 in the USA (Apr. 2, 1976 in the UK).
