(Tuesday, September 6, 1966) — In preparation for his supportive acting role in Richard Lester’s film How I Won The War, John Lennon of The Beatles was given an army-style haircut and a pair of new “granny” glasses (which would become a trademark of his public image) to wear today in the breakfast room of the bar The Inn On The Heath hotel in Celle, near Hanover, West Germany.
