Report: Indiana’s governor declares ‘Louie Louie’ pornographic 50 years ago today (Feb 1 1964)

(Saturday, February 1, 1964) — Indiana Governor Matthew E. Welsh recently declared the song “Louie, Louie” by the Kingsmen pornographic, according to today’s edition of Billboard music magazine, even though the average listener wasn’t able to decipher the lyrics.
