(Friday, September 17, 1981)Das Boot, a German epic war film written and directed by Wolfgang Petersen and starring Jürgen Prochnow, Herbert Grönemeyer and Klaus Wennemann, opened today in West Germany. Set during World War II, the film tells the fictional story of U-96 and its crew (it would open in the U.S. on Feb. 10, 1982).
