(Wednesday, November 9, 1966) — John Lennon of The Beatles was formally introduced today to Yoko Ono, a 33-year old Japanese conceptual artist, the day before her avant-garde “Unfinished Paintings and Objects” exhibit opened at the Indica Gallery in London.

Within two years, Lennon would divorce his wife of six years, Cynthia, and would marry Ono on March 20, 1969, one year prior to the group’s break-up in 1970.
