7th New York Regiment arrives


(Thursday, April 25, 1861, around noon) — The New York Seventh Infantry Regiment, having taken a circuitous route through Philadelphia and Annapolis, arrived in Washington, D.C. today and marched down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House, averting the fall of the government during the American Civil War.
