(Sunday, July 23, 1972, during the Vietnam War, part of the Cold War) — American actress Jane Fonda arrived in Paris today after spending two weeks in North Vietnam and branded U.S. President Richard Nixon a traitor.

During her visit to North Vietnam, Fonda was photographed seated on an anti-aircraft battery, made ten radio broadcasts in which she denounced American political and military leaders as “war criminals” and visited American prisoners of war (POWs).
