President Wilson signs Federal Reserve Act 100 years ago today (12/23/1913)

(Tuesday, December 23, 1913) — The Federal Reserve Act, an Act of Congress that created and set up the Federal Reserve System, the central banking system of the United States of America, and granted it the legal authority to issue Federal Reserve Notes (now commonly known as the U.S. Dollar) and Federal Reserve Bank Notes as legal tender, was signed into law today by President Woodrow Wilson.

‘Magnum Force’ opens in Holland 40 years ago today (12/20/1973)

(Thursday, December 20, 1973)Magnum Force, a police thriller film about a maverick San Francisco police detective who hunts down a band of vigilante cops, opened today in the Netherlands (it opened in the U.S. five days later).

Directed by Ted Post, the film was the second to feature Clint Eastwood as maverick cop Harry Callahan. It also starred Hal Holbrook, Mitchell Ryan, David Soul, Felton Perry, Robert Urich and
Tim Matheson.
