(Wednesday, March 24, 1965, 5:00 p.m. EST) — Senator Robert F. Kennedy reached the top of Mount Kennedy today and became the first person to scale the 13,900-foot peak.

The Canadian government named the mountain in the Yukon Territory last year in the memory of President John F. Kennedy, the senator’s brother who was assassinated 16 months ago.
