(Tuesday, March 15, 1966, evening PST) — The phonograph record of the year was declared to be “A Taste of Honey” by Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass at tonight’s 8th Annual Grammy Awards presentations held simultaneously in the Astor Hotel in New York City and in Nashville, Chicago and Los Angeles.

Song of the Year went to Johnny Mandel & Paul Francis Webster (songwriters) for “The Shadow of Your Smile” (Love Theme From The Sandpiper) performed by Tony Bennett.

Album of the Year went to Sonny Burke (producer) & Frank Sinatra for September of My Years. And Best New Artist was awarded to Tom Jones.
