(Friday, June 12, 1936, midday EDT) — Publisher Frank Knox of Illinois was nominated vice president today at the 1936 Republican National Convention meeting at Public Auditorium in Cleveland.

Knox was unanimously nominated after Senator Arthur H. Vandenberg of Michigan formally notified the convention that he would not accept the second place on the ticket headed by Governor Alfred M. Landon of Kansas (who was chosen by the delegates the previous night).

Landon and Knox would oppose incumbent Democrats Franklin D. Roosevelt and John N. Garner in the United States presidential election, 1936.
