(Saturday, February 16, 1957)The Seventh Seal, a Swedish drama-fantasy film about a medieval knight who challenges Death to a chess game to save himself and his friends, opened today in Sweden.

Directed by Ingmar Bergman, the film starred Gunnar Björnstrand, Bengt Ekerot, Nils Poppe, Max von Sydow, Bibi Andersson, Inga Landgré and Åke Fridell.
