Directed by Ingmar Bergman, the film starred Gunnar Björnstrand, Bengt Ekerot, Nils Poppe, Max von Sydow, Bibi Andersson, Inga Landgré and Åke Fridell.

Franklin’s cover was a landmark for the feminist movement and is often considered as one of the best songs of the R&B era, placing number five on Rolling Stone‘s list of “The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.”
