(Thursday, March 2, 1967, 8:00 p.m. EST) — Frank Sinatra’s “Strangers in the Night” was declared the Record of the Year won tonight at the 9th Annual Grammy Awards featuring simultaneous banquets at the New York Hilton Hotel and in Los Angeles, Nashville and Chicago.

Sinatra’s A Man and His Music won Album of the Year and Song of the Year went to John Lennon and Paul McCartney (songwriters) for “Michelle” performed by The Beatles.
