(Tuesday, April 23, 1968; during the Republican Party presidential primaries, 1968) — Former Vice President Richard Nixon arrived in Portland, Oregon, tonight for two days of campaigning for the state’s May 28, 1968, GOP presidential primary.

Many of the 150 supporters on hand to greet the candidate at the airport carried Nixon placards or wore hats with his name pasted on them.
