(Tuesday, May 13, 1958, at about noon Venezuelan Standard Time) — A limousine carrying Vice President Richard Nixon, who was on an eight-nation tour of South America, was battered today by rocks thrown by anti-U.S. demonstrators in Caracas, Venezuela.

Nixon was not hurt but Venezuelan Foreign Minister Óscar García Velutini, who was riding next to the Vice President, was struck in the eye by a piece of glass.
